Starlink Coming to Bangladesh: Elon Musk Partners with Banglalink for Better Coverage

Elon Musk’s Starlink might soon be available in Bangladesh as Veon Ltd, the Dubai-based telecom giant, is working on expanding its partnership with Starlink to bring satellite-powered services to new markets. If this partnership goes through, Banglalink, which is owned by Veon, will be at the forefront of introducing this game-changing technology in Bangladesh, with the goal of tackling connectivity problems in remote and underserved areas where traditional networks have a hard time reaching.

A Banglalink official confirmed that they are ready to offer Starlink services once the partnership is finalized, which could significantly improve internet access in rural areas.Veon’s CEO, Kaan Terzioglu, spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasizing the importance of combining satellite and terrestrial networks to ensure reliable service, especially in times of floods or energy shortages.

Veon has already made some exciting moves with Starlink in other countries. In Ukraine, its subsidiary Kyivstar has teamed up with Starlink to offer satellite-powered text messaging, with plans to add voice and data services later this year. This partnership is a major step toward improving connectivity, especially in areas where traditional networks don’t reach.

There are some challenges to work through, like the cost and limited availability of spectrum. But despite these obstacles, Veon is focused on making sure people in remote areas finally get the reliable internet they’ve been missing. This partnership could mark a new era for internet access in Bangladesh, ensuring reliable connectivity even in the most remote areas of the country.
