FY26 NBR pursues proposal on VAT law from business

The National Board of Revenue (NBR), on 08 February, sought businesses to deliver their proposals concerning Value Added Tax (VAT) and Supplementary Duty, which will begin in July as part of its initiatives to frame tax proposals for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

On the VAT and Supplementary Duty Act 2012, in a segregate letter to trade bodies, field offices of customs and VAT, ministries, and divisions, the revenue administration recommended stakeholders to distribute their views and proposals, VAT and SD rules, the Excise and Salt Act 1944, and notifications problems under the appropriate laws and rules.

Through March 06, 2025, the NBR asked businesses to submit their offer.

For the upcoming fiscal year, last week the income tax wing requested proposals from business and professional bodies regarding income tax-related laws to guide in framing recommendations.
