For nationwide distribution, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh has validated, printed and given 57 lakh smart family cards to the local government office.
However, the corporation has arranged 6 lakh more cards for printing and delivery after this month. The government through these cards are being dispensed free of charge.
Throughout the tenure of the Awami League, the TCB released one crore family cards beyond the country. Even so, the July uprising, questions concerning the genuineness of the cardholders arose when the interior government took office following the end of Sheikh Hasina’s tenure.
To acquire numerous cards under the same name, the state agency commenced the verification of the cards after exploring that similar specifics have misused their national identity (NID).
Last year in November, while Md. Humayun Kabir, joint director and spokesperson of the TCB, had modified 57 lakh cards, meanwhile 43 lakh continued unverified by local administration.
At the point when one crore handwritten cards were incorporated with the NID system, it was identified that some specifics had used the same identity to acquire a card in Dhaka and another hometown of those persons.
