Adani Power has approved resuming full supplies through next week, which requested leading summer demand and on Bangladesh Power Development. Two sources said Reuters, Adani Power has consented to fully restore supply from a 1,600 MW India Power plant to Bangladesh within a few days after a gap of three months, but unfortunately they rejected Dhaka’s request for discounts and text profits.
31 October, billionaire Gautam Adani’s company halved supply to Bangladesh because of payment setbacks as the country fought a foreign exchange shortage. On 01 November, this led to the shutdown of one of the two similar-sized units of the plant, which was followed by Bangladesh’s request to keep distributing only half the power, quoting low winter demand as the payment problem bubbled.
On the other hand, Adan Power, from BPDB has not consent to meet numerous other demands. Also, the source said giving discounts and compromises potentially values millions of dollars to Bangladesh. On Tuesday the two sides had a virtual meeting, and more are likely to be conveyed in the conversation.
Mentioning Adani Power, the source said, “They don’t want to provide anything, even $1 million. We have not got any agreements. We want a mutual understanding; also, they are appealing to the power purchase agreement”.
In December, an Adani source said BPDB paid the company about $900 million, while Karim said that time the total amount was only about $650 million. The valuation clash revolves around how power tariffs are counted. However, BPDB previously wrote to Adani Power pursuing tax benefits worth millions of dollars and the recommencement of a discount program that ran for a year until May.
