On Friday (14 February), Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Younus, discussed with Tesla CEO Elon Musk a potential cooperation to launch Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh. On Saturday, by sharing a post on X, the chief adviser of the government of Bangladesh wrote, “Had a great meeting with Mr. @elonmusk. We agree to work together. Hoping to launch Starlink in Bangladesh soon together with him”.
Earlier, on Friday, an X post stated, Bangladesh Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Younus on Thursday held an extensive video discussion with @elonmusk, the owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, to explore future collaboration and to make further progress to introduce Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh.”. Professor Yunus also prolonged an invitation to Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh for the potential launch of Starlink service, emphasizing the necessities of this initiative for national development, to which Musk responded positively.
On Sunday (16 February), Musk replied to Muhammad Younus, and he said, I look forward to it.”. In a press release, the government of Bangladesh said,While this conversation, Younus and Musk highlighted the transformational impact of Starlink’s satellite conversations, especially for Bangladesh’s ambitious youth, rural and vulnerable women, and remote communities. They discussed how high-speed, low-cost internet connectivity could bridge the digital separation in Bangladesh, empowering education, healthcare, and also economic development in underserved regions.
