The court has sent two of the detained persons in a woman molestation and robbery case at a bus toward Rajshahi into a five- and a six-day remand for interrogation. Senior Judicial Magistrate Mosammat Rumi Khatun of the District Court of Mirzapur Amli of the District of Tangail heard the case and approved the remand in the afternoon of Tuesday. The two alleged persons are Md. Alamgir Hossain Sheikh and his brother Rajib Hossain Sheikh.
After the hearing, the two of them were detained at the Detective Branch in the evening. The investigating officer of the incident, District DB Sub-Inspector Md. Ahsanuzzaman, further added that the two detained siblings live at Palashbari area of Dhansoa area of Dhaka’s Ashulia. They are the children of Khorshed Alam Sheikh of the area of the Amtoli village of the Daulatpur upazila of the Manikganj district. Five persons have been detained in the bus robbery and molestation incident.
Tangail Police SP Md. Mizanur Rahman during a press conference Tuesday afternoon confirmed that a person named Shahidul Islam alias Mohidul alias Muhith, who had been arrested in the robberies, has been in the custody of Tangail DB for five days since last Saturday. Alamgir Hossain has been arrested at the spot of the Sadhurpara village of the netrokona district based on the results of the interrogation of the individual during interrogation. Alamgir Hossain is the leader of the inter-district robber gang. 4,210 taka and two rings of silver that had been stolen during the robberies of buses had been recovered at the spot of Alamgir Hossain at the time. On the 17th of February at night, a bus of Amri Travels of Unique Road Royals came under a robbery attack. The bus had started at 11 o’clock that night with 30-35 passengers carrying them from Gabtoli of Dhaka toward Rajshahi. At 12:30 am, 8-9 robbers of them the majority of them also a passenger at the bus with a pistol and drove the bus at multiple areas and plundered the belongings and the cash of the passengers and also harassed two of the female passengers during the course of the period of time. Three days had passed after the incident had been registered at Mirzapur Police Station at the 20th of February at the night a case of Omar Ali of the passenger. After the incident a special unit of the district detective police and the Mirzapur police had been set up at the initiative of the Tangail Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman. The unit members had gone into the field the same day and had launched a hunt against the robbers. Three members named Shahidul Islam, Md. Sabuj and Sharifuzzaman Sharif had been caught and put behind the bar at the area of Genda of Savar at the last Friday. Among them Md. Sabuj and Sharifuzzaman Sharif had admitting the incident and depositions at the courtroom at the last Saturday. They are at the prison of Tangail at present. Five-day interrogation of Shahidul Islam has been sent at the detection police.
