MD Motasem Billah has been assigned via Bangladesh Bank. He was appointed as director of its Chattogram office as the new administrator of Mobile Financial Service (MFS) for Nagad, in replacement of Badiuzzaman Didar.
Yesterday (277 February), Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said to The Business Standard that Didar has been transferred to the central bank’s headquarters. Based on the source, RCE, Badiuzzaman Didar resigned from the position of administrator at Nagad because of some health problems. He declared in his resignation letter that the workload in Nagar was overwhelming, which affected his health. Several changes were made in the management of both public and private institutions after the formation of the interim government. Last year, on 21 August, Bangladesh Bank assigned Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar, director of the Chattogram Office of the Postal Department, as administrator for Nagad for a one-year term. Other officials from the same department were appointed as assistant administrators. Through 10 September last year, D’s executive director, Md Shafayet Alam, filed a decree appeal challenging the Bangladesh Bank’s assignment of an administrator to Nagad, asserting non-compliance with the Payment and Settlement System Act 2024. On 15 February, the high court announced the Bangladesh Bank’s move as legal and terminated a rule questioning its legality. After assuring his position, Badiuzzaman uncovered various irregularities at Nagad. His inquiry implicated the former managing director, Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk, in all these irregularities. However, this discovery led Tanvir to threaten the administrator in an attempt to stop the inquiry. After that, on 12 February, Badiuzzaman was attacked. In September he filed a general diary (GD) with the help of police and said all things.
Reminding this attack, Bangladesh Bank is confident in Badiuzzaman’s appropriate safety and security. After all this incident, Bangladesh Bank started to search for a qualified new administrator who was familiar with Nagad’s operations and also could set its management.
