Rape victim Asiya is no more

The 8 years old child a victim of abuse in Magura, took her last breath in the Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Thursday (March 13) at around 12:30 PM. More than a week, her only address was the hospital bed. In the end, our Asiya lost her battle with death. A high-level medical board comprising expert doctors was formed to save the child. To ensure the most advanced treatment procedures and security, the child was transferred from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the Combined Military Hospital on the evening of March 8.

The ISPR and the Press Wing also prayed for the child several times. However, despite all efforts, the girl passed away forever. The child could not be saved, the Bangladesh Army revealed in a Facebook post, despite the use of cutting-edge medical equipment and the unwavering efforts of expert doctors at CMH.

It is worth noting that the family alleges that on the afternoon of March 6, while visiting her sister’s house in Nijnanduali village on the outskirts of Magura town, the child was raped. Later, on Saturday, the child’s mother filed a case at Magura Sadar Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, naming the child’s sister’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and elder brother-in-law as the accused. They were already in police custody. In this case, the court remanded the sister’s husband, the mother-in-law, and the elder brother-in-law after showing them in custody.
