Bangladesh ice cream business Rises as temperature rises
Dhaka, April 19: The ice cream industry is experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand across the country as the country’s temperature continues to increase. The industry is estimated to be worth BDT 3,000 crore this year, nearly triple the figure it was only four years ago.

Traditional players like Polar and Igloo remain market leaders, cashing in on the seasonal increase in demand. The majority of the increase, industry operators acknowledge, is because of the youthfulness of the country — nearly 50% of ice cream consumers are under 30 years old, creating an active, fashion-oriented market.
Yet, the thriving industry has its drawbacks. The imposition of high import duties on the industry’s key raw materials is posing obstacles to unhindered functioning and avenues for growth, especially for emerging fashion houses.

Despite all of this, market momentum does not seem to be letting up, with businesses launching additional flavors, promotional advertising campaigns, and specialty packaging to entice the dried-out multitudes.
