A huge project of BDT 15,000 crore to develop a new bay terminal of Chattogram Port to upgrade the facility and services of the port is to be approved by National Economic Council (NEC).
The project will be initiated in April, 2025, to June, 2031. Funding will be provided by the World Bank, along with the government of Bangladesh.
It will be augmented with such crucial facilities as breakwaters, new navigation channels, and enhanced road and train links. All these will facilitate easier ingress and egress of ships into the port, reduce waiting times, and enhance the efficiency of the movement of goods through the port.
