Legal Notice Issued Against Dr. Tasnim Zara for Spreading Obscenity on Social Media

A legal notice has been issued against Dr. Tasnim Zara, the Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), on charges of spreading obscenity. The notice, which was also directed at Dr. Jahangir Kabir, demands immediate legal action to curb the distribution of inappropriate content across social media platforms.

On Thursday, April 24, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab sent the legal notice. It calls on the government to take swift measures to stop the circulation of obscene and pornographic videos, advertisements, and promotions on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Likee.

The notice accuses Dr. Tasnim Zara and Dr. Jahangir Kabir, among others, of using social media to promote sexual enhancement drugs disguised as health advice. These promotional videos and images are believed to be spreading widespread obscenity, tarnishing social and family values in Bangladesh.

In addition, the notice highlights that several celebrities and showbiz figures in Bangladesh are reportedly sharing obscene content on their personal Facebook pages and accounts in exchange for money. Many doctors are also accused of posting suggestive content to attract attention and increase views for the sale of various products, including medication.

Barrister Kabir Pallab’s legal notice warns that if appropriate action is not taken immediately, the Law and Life Foundation intends to file a writ petition with the High Court. This petition would aim to ensure that legal steps are taken to protect the public interest and safeguard societal morals.

The allegations have sparked public concern, particularly around the use of social media by professionals and public figures to promote unethical content. Many are calling for stronger regulations to prevent the spread of such material and protect online users from exploitation.

As the legal process moves forward, the public waits to see how authorities will respond to these serious accusations and what steps will be taken to address the growing issue of online obscenity in the country.
