A fire broke out in the basement of the multi-stored building Capital Siraj Center at around 6:45 pm on Monday(05 May) evening. They later reached the spot and brought the fire under control at 7:47 pm. The fire service rescued 18 people alive from the building. No immediate reports of casualties in the incident.
Media officer inform that the fire service brought the fire under control after 50 minutes of effort at around 7:50 am. 18 people were rescued alive from the roof of the Siraj Tower due to the fire service’s activities. Among them, 7 were men, 9 were women and 2 were children.
How is Bailey Road fire incident happen?
Fire service officers said at the time that the fire started in a food shop located in the building. The fire first broke out on the ground floor of the building. Still now officers are unable to say how the fire started. To escape the fire many people, including women, took shelter on different floors of the building, including the roof. Everyone were safe and unharmed.

The Fire Service Headquarters reported that a fire broke out at the shopping mall around 6:45 pm on Monday evening. Upon receiving the news of the fire, a unit of the Fire Service initially went to the scene.But as the fire grew larger, eight more units were later brought in. At least 46 people were killed in a horrific fire at a multi-stored building on Bailey Road on the night of February 29 last year.
Before this incident, on the night of February 29 last year, 46 people died in a massive fire at the Green Cozy Cottage building on Bailey Road. The fire broke out while people of all ages were having dinner in several restaurants in the building.
