The Bangladesh government has announced a 10-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha, starting from Wednesday, June 5 and continuing until Saturday, June 14. To compensate for the extended leave, all government offices will remain open on Saturday, May 17 and Saturday, May 24.
This decision was finalized during a meeting of the Interim Government’s Advisory Council held at the Secretariat on Tuesday. A responsible advisor who attended the meeting confirmed the announcement.
Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, officially shared the decision on his verified Facebook page, stating, “To ensure smooth public travel and preserve the religious and national spirit, a 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday has been granted.”

Earlier this year, public servants also enjoyed a 9-day break during Eid-ul-Fitr from March 28 to April 5 eiwhich included public holidays, executive orders, and weekend adjustments. The holiday coincided with March 26, the Independence Day, while offices briefly reopened on March 27.
To maintain productivity and reduce the impact of the long leave on public services, the government decided to keep offices open on two Saturdays before Eid. This extended Eid-ul-Azha holiday is expected to greatly benefit homebound travelers and ensure a more relaxed, festive environment for citizens across the country.
