Ceasefire Announced After Long Talks

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. The announcement came through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Trump said that the decision came after lengthy overnight discussions led by the United States. He added that both countries showed wisdom and common sense by agreeing to stop military actions.

Trump Congratulates Both Nations

In his post, Trump congratulated India and Pakistan for choosing peace. He wrote,

“Congratulations to both countries for using common sense and high intelligence. Thank you for paying attention to this matter!”

Confirmation from Pakistan’s Deputy PM

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, also confirmed the news of the ceasefire. He stated that Pakistan remains committed to peace and security in the region, but without compromising its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan had always preferred a peaceful approach, and this agreement is a reflection of that goal.

India Also Confirms the Agreement

India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, also confirmed the ceasefire. He said that a top Pakistani military officer called India’s top army leader. During the phone conversation, both sides agreed to stop all military actions on land, in the air, and at sea.

Misri also informed that the ceasefire would officially begin from 5 PM Indian Standard Time on Saturday.

Next Meeting Scheduled for May 12

Both sides have agreed to hold another meeting on Monday, May 12. This meeting will focus on how to maintain peace and prevent further conflict. Both Indian and Pakistani officials are anticipated to be present.

Pakistan Reopens Airspace

Pakistan has allowed all aircraft to fly again after the peace accord. This decision was confirmed in an official announcement by the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA). Reopening airspace is an obvious indication that tensions have subsided and that business as usual has resumed.

An Encouragement for Harmony

The agreement is a major step after weeks of growing animosity between the two nuclear-armed rivals. Both sides are pulling back from the verge of war, and there is hope that communication and diplomacy will again take the initiative.
