Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus Calls Chattogram Port the Heart of Bangladesh’s Economy

Chattogram

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, has said that Chattogram Port is the heart of Bangladesh’s economy. He stressed that this port must not be allowed to weaken, as it plays a key role not only for Bangladesh but also for Nepal, Bhutan, and the entire South Asian region.

He stated that to fully benefit from this port, it should be operated by the world’s best port operators. Only then can Bangladesh gain the maximum advantage from this key economic hub.

At around 9:15 in the morning, he attended a discussion meeting held at the New Mooring Container Terminal of Chattogram Port.

Need for Global-Standard Expansion

In his speech, Dr. Yunus said,

“If we agree that Chattogram Port is the heart of Bangladesh’s economy, then we must also agree that its current size is not enough. It must be expanded to an international standard.”

He added that he had written about improving the port in the past, but now he has the opportunity to take real action.
From the very first day, he started working on turning it into a world-class port.
