The death body of Mahmudul Hasan(24) a student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Dhaka International University, was recovered near a metro rail pillar in Dhaka’s Diabari area late Monday night.
Mahmudul had been missing since last Thursday. Originally from Ashranda village in Naogaon’s Sapahar upazila his body was discovered near pillar number 125 of the metro line. Locals who found him in a bloodied state quickly rushed him to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The body was later transferred to Pallabi Police Station.
Pallabi police confirmed that an unnatural death case has been filed. However, Mahmudul’s family has not lodged any formal complaint. His father, Idris Master, a local schoolteacher, told reporters that “My son died naturally. There were no visible injury marks on his body, so we did not file any case.”

Mahmudul was laid to rest in his native village following funeral prayers on Tuesday night. Friends and fellow students described him as a friendly, responsible, and promising young man. His sudden death has cast a pall over the university community, leaving students and faculty in mourning. While authorities are treating the case as an unnatural death, the circumstances surrounding Mahmudul’s disappearance and tragic demise remain unclear, leaving many unanswered questions.
