Former Bangladesh cricket captain Aminul Islam Bulbul officially took charge as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday. Even before he began his new role, rumors started spreading on social media that he would receive a high salary for this position.

Bulbul Clears the Rumor

At his first press conference after taking office, Bulbul addressed these rumours directly. He made it very clear that he will not receive any salary for his work as BCB president.

What Bulbul Said About Salary

Speaking at the press event, Bulbul said:

“When I worked at the ICC’s Development Wing, I used to get a salary, of course. But when I came to take responsibility at BCB, they told me that I could join with a salary if I wanted to.

But being the BCB president is a respectable and honourable position. I will not take any salary for this role. I never even thought about taking money for this. It’s not possible for me.”

His Purpose for Joining BCB

Bulbul also explained why he accepted this responsibility. He said his goal is not just to develop cricket in Bangladesh, but to make cricket a game for everyone in the country.

He said:

“I didn’t just come for ‘cricket for Bangladesh’ but for ‘cricket in Bangladesh’. I have come with a framework in mind. I already know some things, and I will learn more as I go.

Since my time is short, I see this like playing an innings. Not a long Test or One-Day match, but a strong T20 innings that everyone will remember for a long time.

I want to make sure that everyone in Bangladesh can play cricket, and that cricket becomes a game for all.”
