Emergency Services Restart at Eye Hospital After One Week
The National Eye Science Institute and Hospital in Agargaon, Dhaka, has started providing services again after being closed for seven days. However, for now, only emergency services are available for patients.
Hospital Shut Down After Clashes
All services at the hospital were stopped last Wednesday. This happened because of a fight between hospital staff and patients who were injured during the July movement. To control the situation, army members were brought in. There was uncertainty about when the hospital would reopen.

Meetings Held to Resolve Issues
Since then, the hospital authorities had several meetings with health officials and ministry representatives, as well as with those injured in the July movement. These meetings were aimed at bringing things back to normal.
Decision to Reopen Emergency Services
Finally, on Tuesday, the Director General of the Health Directorate, Professor Abu Jafar, and other officials from the ministry, directorate, and hospital met with the injured people. After the meeting, Professor Abu Jafar told reporters that they had discussed reopening the emergency department and some other limited services.
Patients Receive Emergency Care
Following the decision, emergency services started at the hospital on Wednesday morning. Around 8:45 AM, more than a hundred patients were allowed to enter the hospital. By 10:00 AM, doctors started attending to patients in the emergency department.
