A tragic incident unfolded in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, as a missing girl found dead in a stream near her home two days after she went missing. The victim, Nasifa Jannat Anjum (15), was a tenth-grade student at Sripur High School.
Nasifa the daughter of Abdul Khalik from Sherpur village under Brahmanbazar Union, left home on Thursday morning to attend private tuition at a local coaching center. She never returned. Her family searched everywhere, but when they failed to locate her, they filed a general diary (GD) with Kulaura Police Station that night.
On Saturday evening around 6 PM, Nasifa’s lifeless body was found floating in a nearby stream by her relatives. Police were immediately informed and recovered the body.

Md. Golam Apser, Officer-in-Charge of Kulaura Police Station, said the missing girl was found dead with signs of decomposition. “The body was swollen, but we found no visible injury marks during the inquest report. The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy,” he added. The body has been sent to the 250-bed Moulvibazar District Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
The sudden and heartbreaking end to Nasifa’s life has cast a shadow over the community. Locals are demanding a thorough investigation to find out what really happened.
