A tragic incident occurred at Tomchom Bridge in Comilla city. Amid a minor traffic jam, a collision between a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw escalated into a brutal attack, leading to the death of Muhammad Azad Mia (50), the rickshaw driver.
According to eyewitnesses, after the collision, the motorcycle rider became furious with Azad Mia and started physically assaulting him. Continuous punches and kicks caused Azad Mia to collapse on the road. The assailant abandoned the motorcycle and fled the scene. Although the injured rickshaw driver was rescued, he tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Muhammad Azad Mia was a resident of Doulotpur West Para in Comilla. He was the eldest son of the late Sadeq Mia. A daily wage earner, he was the primary breadwinner for his family.
This brutal incident has sparked widespread anger among the general public. Many have condemned the act on social media, demanding that the perpetrators be identified and brought to justice immediately.
Locals have urged the Comilla District Police to investigate the incident promptly and ensure the culprits face legal consequences. Such heinous acts are unacceptable in any society.
