Abidul Islam’s Complaint about DUCSU Election

Abidul Islam Khan, vice president (VP) candidate supported by Chhatra Dal, said that,

Although he exercised his right to vote, the situation did not seem favorable to him. According to him, his aspiration to participate in the DUCSU election was obstructed.

He made these comments to journalists around 2:00 pm on Tuesday after casting his vote.

Concerns over Democracy and Voting Irregularities

Abid said,

“Attempts are being made to undermine democracy, human rights, and freedom of speech.”

He further alleged that,

Filled ballot papers were handed to students at Amar Ekushey Hall and Rokeya Hall at noon. He claimed to have confirmed the authenticity of the incident himself.

According to him, despite such undesirable incidents, the Election Commission and the university failed to take proper measures.

Violation of Electoral Code of Conduct

Abidul Islam said that although the DUCSU electoral code of conduct clearly states that candidates have the right to enter polling centers, false rumors were spread against him in the media.

Message to Journalists

Addressing journalists, he said, “Information must be verified before publishing anything.”
