One year after the mass protests in July 2024, six individuals who died during the movement have finally been buried as unidentified persons. Their identities could not be confirmed despite DNA and fingerprint tests. On August 7, 2025, the bodies were handed over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for burial at Jurain Cemetery in Dhaka.
Bodies Buried as Unidentified After One Year
Six person who died during the July 2024 public movement were buried as beyowarish (unclaimed or unidentified) because authorities failed to determine their identities, even after one year. On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 12 PM, the bodies were handed over from Dhaka Medical College morgue to Anjuman Mufidul Islam, an organization known for handling burials of unclaimed bodies.
They were buried in Jurain Graveyard, located in the capital Dhaka.

Officials Present Durin g the Handover
Several senior officials were present when the 6 Victims of July Movement were handed over:

Md. Kamrul Ahmed, Burial Service Officer, Anjuman Mufidul Islam (received the bodies)
No Identity Found Despite DNA and Fingerprint Tests
According to Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, the bodies were brought to the morgue between August 7 and August 14, 2024. Post-mortems were done, and samples for DNA and other evidence were collected. But no identity could be confirmed.

“One body had bullet wounds, and the other five had injuries caused by sharp weapons.”
Court Order Needed for Burial
Faruk Hossain of DMP said that all possible tests, including fingerprint and DNA analysis, failed to reveal the victims’ identities. So, based on a court order, the bodies were finally buried as unidentified.
“ডিএনএ ও ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট পরীক্ষা করেও পরিচয় মেলেনি। আদালতের নির্দেশে লাশগুলো বেওয়ারিশ হিসেবে দাফন করা হচ্ছে।”
“Even after DNA and fingerprint tests, we couldn’t find their identities. The court has ordered the bodies to be buried as unclaimed.”
He also assured that all collected evidence has been preserved. If anyone comes forward in the future to claim any of the bodies, necessary steps will be taken.
Details from Inquest Reports
According to the inquest (surathal) reports, the bodies of three young men, aged around 20, 22, and 25, were brought from Jatrabari Police Station area to Dhaka Medical on August 14, 2024.
On the same day:

A body of a 30-year-old man
-
And a 32-year-old woman were brought in
(Their place of death was not determined)
Earlier, on August 7, another body of a 25-year-old man was found in Gulistan and brought to Dhaka Medical.
