Crash Footage Shows Plane Shaking Before Impact

A video of the crash has gone viral online. In the video, the aircraft can be seen shaking and wobbling just after takeoff from the runway. The plane crashes severely a few moments later, striking a nearby medical college hostel.

Expert Suspects Bird Strike Caused the Crash

An aviation expert told NDTV that the likely cause of the crash was a bird strike. He said that the plane was hit by multiple birds just after take-off, causing the engines to fail.

“The aircraft lost the power it needed to fully take off,” the expert said. “Even though the pilot tried his best, the plane could not gain altitude and went down.”

Former Pilot Explains What May Have Happened

Captain Saurav Bhatnagar, a former pilot and aviation analyst, explained further:

“It looks like both engines failed after being hit by several birds. The takeoff itself was smooth, but before the landing gear was pulled in, the aircraft started going down. That’s usually a sign of engine failure or loss of lift power. We will know the exact cause after a full investigation.”

Flight Details and Passenger List

The aircraft had taken off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. It was heading to Gatwick Airport in London, United Kingdom.

There was total of 242 people onboard, including:

  • 232 regular passengers
  • 10 crew members
  • Their nationalities were as follows:
  • 169 Indian citizens
  • 53 British citizens
  • 7 Portuguese citizens
  • 1 Canadian citizen
Aircraft Crashed into Medical College Hostel

After take-off, the aircraft crashed into the hostel building of a medical college, causing additional casualties and damage. There is concern that some medical students may have died or been injured in the crash, but full details are still being gathered.

Investigation Ongoing

Investigators are still looking into what caused the collision, who survived, and how much of an impact it had on the neighbourhood. India and the rest of the world have been shocked by this terrible event.
