Aminul Islam Bulbul is the new president of BCB

Aminul Islam Bulbu

While on-field performance is declining day by day, the internal situation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has become even more unstable. There has been turmoil within the board for the past two days. After a dramatic incident, Faruk Ahmed has been removed from the post of BCB president. Another former cricketer, Aminul Islam, has been confirmed as the new president in his place. A meeting has been called at the BCB this afternoon, where he is expected to be nominated as the director of the National Sports Council (NSC) and assume the responsibility of president.

Farooq Ahmed has been removed from the post of board president less than 10 months after his appointment. Meanwhile, Farooq has also announced that he will continue his fight. Former cricketer Tamim Iqbal has exploded a bombshell in such a time of crisis. In his opinion, everything is happening on the board except cricket now. Because of that, cricket is also losing popularity.

Who is the new BCB president?

Bulbul was elected president of the BCB board of directors on Friday afternoon. At the beginning of the meeting, he was announced as the board director on the nomination of the National Sports Council. The former captain of the country was then elected president by the directors’ vote. Former national captain Aminul Islam Bulbul is going to take over the responsibility. If everything is finalized in the board meeting, he will take over the responsibility by this afternoon.

Tamim Iqbal’s reaction to this decision

Cricket fans in the country are surprised and disappointed by the BCB’s turbulent situation. At the same time, former captain Tamim Iqbal has given an angry response. Tamim, who is currently in Pakistan on a personal visit, told reporters,

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board is a cricket board. But here we see everything except cricket. Who will come, who will go, who will be president or not, these are the focus of discussion. But cricket is nowhere to be found.”

Tamim’s disappointment did not stop there. He also expressed surprise that only four journalists had gone to cover the Pakistan tour. In his words,

“Whether Bangladesh plays Ireland or Zimbabwe, I have never seen such a small number of journalists. So should we assume that cricket is losing its appeal?”

Bangladesh will embark on a mission to equalize the score in the second T20I of the three-match series against Pakistan tonight. But rather than this crucial match on the field, the focus of discussion now is the change in leadership of the BCB, which is uncomfortable for many like Tamim.

So Tamim made an open request for the country’s cricket,

‘Those who are on the board now or will be in the future, should at least think about cricket. Because cricket has lost its appeal. We are struggling everywhere. Now we need to accept the truth and move forward on the path of something better.”
