They Were on a Trip with Friends

According to Imtiaz Ahmed, an official of Sea Safe Lifeguard Organization, five friends from the 2023-24 session of the Development Studies Department at Chittagong University had come to visit Cox’s Bazar. On that morning, they went to Himchori beach. Two of them stayed sitting on the dam, while the other three went down to the sea to bathe. Suddenly, strong waves dragged the three into the deeper water. Sadman’s body was recovered, but the others were lost in the waves.

Dangerous Beach Spot

Sea Safe Lifeguard officials said this is not the first time such an accident has happened at Pechar Dwip. Just last month, six people drowned there while bathing in the sea.
