Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Bank has announced plans to introduce new currency notes, which are expected to be available for public use very soon.
Recently, photos of some of these new notes — including a Tk 200 note — have started spreading across social media platforms. Many people have been sharing and reacting to these images.
Writer Faham Abdus Salam Criticizes the Design
Among those reacting was Faham Abdus Salam, a writer and the son-in-law of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Faham posted on Facebook on Thursday to express his strong disapproval of the design of the new Tk 200 note.
He shared a picture of the note and wrote in the caption:
“Are you serious? Is this Bangladesh’s new currency note?”
Harsh Comments About the Note’s Design
Faham continued his post by criticizing the note’s artistic quality. He wrote:
“How low can a nation’s sense of aesthetics be, that such a childish design becomes a part of its currency?”

He further added a sarcastic remark:
“Even the mystic folk poet Langta Suleman could have designed a better-looking note.”
Questions Raised to Designers and Bangladesh Bank
At the end of his post, Faham addressed the designers of the note and the Bangladesh Bank with a critical question. He asked:
“Don’t you even have AI? Shame on you!”
His post has since drawn a lot of attention and has added to the growing public discussion about the look of the new Tk 200 note.
