Former advisor to the interim government, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, is joining the National Citizens Party (NCP).
Several NCP leaders confirmed the matter to Kalbela on Monday (December 29).
Meanwhile, the party has called an emergency press conference at the Banglamotor NCP office in the capital at 6 pm on Monday. Party office secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat confirmed the matter.
NCP convener Nahid Islam will be present at the press conference.
It is learned that Asif Mahmud will also be present at the press conference and will officially join the NCP.
Earlier, at a press conference on December 28, Nahid Islam said,
“জামায়াতে ইসলামী ও সমমনা দলগুলোর সঙ্গে আগামী জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে এনসিপি একত্রে অংশ নেবে।”
Translation : “The NCP will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections together with Jamaat-e-Islami and like-minded parties.”
He said that they have no ideological unity with Jamaat and like-minded parties. This is an electoral agreement.

In response to a question from journalists, the NCP convener said,
“আমাদের ন্যূনতম কিছু বিষয়ে ঐকমত্য রয়েছে। সামগ্রিক বিষয়ে বা আদর্শিক ঐক্য হয়নি। এটা একটা নির্বাচনী সমঝোতা। ন্যূনতম কিছু বিষয়ে আমরা ঐকমত্য পোষণ করেছি, আমরা একত্রে নির্বাচনী সময়টা পার করব। এই সমঝোতা একদিকে নির্বাচনী বৈতরণী পার হওয়ার জন্য, অন্যদিকে আমাদের সংস্কার, বিচার এবং আধিপত্যবাদ ও দুর্নীতিবিরোধী ন্যূনতম কর্মসূচিও থাকবে।”
Translation : “We have a consensus on at least some issues.” There is no overall or ideological unity. This is an electoral agreement. We have agreed on at least some issues, we will pass the election period together. This agreement is on the one hand to cross the electoral threshold, on the other hand we will also have a minimum program of reforms, justice and against hegemony and corruption.”
Stating that the NCP will work for ‘Yes’ in the referendum in the elections, Nahid Islam said,
জুলাই সনদের প্রতিশ্রুতি অনুযায়ী আমরা কাজ করব।
Translation : “We will work as per the promise of the July Charter.”
