BAF Cox’s bazar under attack, one dead

 There was a dramatic encounter between locals and Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) personnel near the Cox’s Bazar BAF base today, when one individual lost his life and some others got injured.

 

Miscreants of nearby Samiti Para area made an attack on the BAF base, as revealed in a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The Air Force took necessary actions to manage the situation in an appropriate way. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed the incident and said the clash took place in the mid-day time. “One person was killed and a few were injured. The cause of the clash will be understood by interrogating both sides and an action will be taken according to rules,” he claimed. Police locally identified the victim as 30-year-old Shihab Kabir, a trader in Samiti Para. He was reportedly shot and died later.

 

Saiful Islam, who commands the Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital police box, deposed that the incident occurred around 12 PM. The security forces cordoned off the area and put in place restricted movement around the scene of the clash. The government has assured that an investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the violence and to take appropriate action to prevent further escalation.
