Bangladesh to Host Asian Archery Championship This November

Asian Archery Championship

The Asian Archery Championship is set to take place in Bangladesh in November, confirmed Tom Dielen, the Secretary General of the World Archery Federation. He visited the proposed tournament venue and said it was suitable for the championship.

Although Dielen confirmed the event will happen in Bangladesh, he did not share details about the discussion he had with the current President and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Archery Federation regarding the formation of the new ad-hoc committee.

Changes in Archery Leadership Created Uncertainty

Back in March 2025, a major change took place in the Bangladesh Archery Federation. The elected committee was removed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and replaced with a new ad-hoc committee.

This sudden change raised concerns about the November tournament. The World Archery Federation even sent a letter asking for an explanation about how the new committee was formed.

Tournament Dates and Participation Still Under Discussion

Despite the leadership issues, Tom Dielen confirmed that the Asian Archery Championship will be held from 7 to 15 November in Bangladesh.

He said,

“The Asian Archery Tournament will take place in Bangladesh in November. I have visited the venue, and I think it’s a good one. However, who will participate and who won’t depend on Bangladesh. I have nothing to say right now about the archery committee. We are in talks with the current committee, and I hope there will be an outcome very soon.”

Bangladesh Has Hosted This Tournament Before

Bangladesh has already hosted the Asian Archery Championship twice in the past. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, Vice President of the Asian Archery Federation, also expressed confidence that Bangladesh will once again host the event successfully in November.
