Why New Missions Are Needed
Recently, Bangladesh rose from the status of Least Developed Country (LDC). The global political and economic situation is changing, so Bangladesh wants to build stronger international relationships. The new missions will help in:
- Creating new business opportunities
- Supporting Bangladeshis living abroad
- Expanding Bangladesh’s influence in global politics
Benefits of Each Location
- Dublin, Ireland: Ireland is advanced in technology, healthcare, and education. Bangladesh wants to strengthen these connections.
- Oslo, Norway: Norway is a leader in peace, climate finance, and human rights. A partnership might give Bangladesh a more powerful voice in international development.
- Frankfurt, Germany: Frankfurt is a major financial city and home to many Bangladeshis.
- Buenos Aires, Argentina: Argentina is a key power in Latin America. The mission will help Bangladesh export more goods and cooperate in farming and agriculture.
- São Paulo, Brazil: São Paulo is Brazil’s business capital. Having a mission here will improve services for Bangladeshis and help grow trade, since Bangladesh currently only has an embassy in BrasÃlia.
Official Steps Taken
On June 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the Ministry of Finance to approve new staff and resources to start these missions. The mission here will help provide consular services and promote trade and investment.
Impact of New Missions
These new diplomatic offices will:
- Increase Bangladesh’s presence and influence worldwide
- Build stronger political, economic, and cultural ties
- Make it easier for Bangladeshis abroad to get help and support
- Help Bangladesh take part in important decisions in host countries
Current Diplomatic Network
Bangladesh currently maintains 84 diplomatic posts in 60 different nations.
