Bangladesh Heads to Archery World Cup Stage-2 – Eyes Set on Greater Glory!
Bangladesh is once again stepping onto the global stage! From May 6 to 11, the Archery World Cup Stage-2 will take place in Shanghai, China and our national team is on its way to compete.
As Bangladesh’s archery team sets foot on the global stage once again. They carry more than just bows and arrows they carry the hopes of a nation. With every draw of the string and every release of the arrow.
Our athletes remind us of the quiet strength, dedication and resilience that defines the spirit of Bangladesh. Whether it’s reaching the quarterfinals or simply standing tall among the world’s best, their journey is already a victory of a testament to passion, preparation, and pride.
Ahead of the tournament, the newly formed ad-hoc committee of the Bangladesh Archery Federation held a press conference at the Bangladesh Olympic Association headquarters. There, the team’s bold goals were shared by none other than German head coach Martin Frederick.
Coach Martin spoke with confidence,
“Our first goal is the quarterfinal. At the same time, we’re aiming to improve our world ranking in the compound event as we look ahead to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”
Five promising archers will represent Bangladesh in this competition. In the recursive division the three participants are Abdur Rahman Alif, Sagar Islam and Ramkrishna Saha. These three young warriors with a burning desire for success. Meanwhile, Himu Bashar and Bannya Akter will compete in the compound category both showing strong determination and promise.
Speaking to reporters Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol the former general secretary and now a member of the ad-hoc committee of the Archery Federation proudly recalled Bangladesh’s past glories.
“We’ve had great success in the World Cup before. We’ve even won a silver medal. In Shanghai, we once had a neck and neck semifinal against Korea and lost by just one point. We believe we can maintain that momentum this time as well.”

He added,
“Our re-curve team is doing brilliantly. When forming the team, we’ve always given the highest priority to the coach’s decisions because we know that success depends on the right planning and mutual trust.”
This competition is more than just a tournament. It’s a reflection of our youth’s courage, dedication, and love for their country. Our archers are ready to raise the red and green flag high on the international stage.
