Bangladesh Closes Three Land Ports with India, Suspends One More

Advisory Council Approves Closure

The Advisory Council of Bangladesh has approved the closure of three land ports and the temporary suspension of operations at another land port. The decision was made during the 40th meeting of the Advisory Council held at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon on Thursday, 28 August.

The meeting was presided over by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The proposal was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.

Closed and Suspended Land Ports

According to the announcement, the following three land ports under the Ministry of Shipping will be closed:

  1. Chilahati Land Port in Domar Upazila, Nilphamari.

  2. Daulatganj Land Port in Chuadanga.

  3. Tegamukh Land Port in Rangamati.

In addition, the Ballla Land Port in Chunarughat Upazila, Habiganj district, Sylhet division, will have its operational activities temporarily suspended.

Purpose of the Decision

The Advisory Council’s decision aims to regulate cross-border traffic, ensure security, and manage trade more effectively.
