Bangladeshi Teen Trafficked to India, Raped by Over 200 Men

Raped by Over 200 Men

A young Bangladeshi teenager, who ran away from home after failing a school exam, fell victim to a horrific human trafficking ring. She was trafficked to India and, in just three months, was Raped by Over 200 Men. This tragic story came to light when the girl was rescued by police during a raid on a prostitution den in Vasai, Maharashtra.

The Horrifying Ordeal

According to a report by the Times of India, a 12-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued from a human trafficking ring in Vasai’s Naigaon area, near Mumbai. The Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Vihar Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, with help from NGOs like Exodus Road India Foundation and Harmony Foundation, conducted a raid on July 26. The girl had been subjected to sexual abuse by over 200 men in just three months. So far, ten people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Abraham Mathai, the founder and chairman of the Harmony Foundation, shared that the girl, while at a remand home, revealed she was initially taken to Nadiad, Gujarat. It was there that she suffered unimaginable Raped by Over 200 Men over a three-month period.

The Warning Behind the Tragedy

Mathai highlighted the heartbreaking loss of the girl’s childhood. He said,

মেয়েটি এখনো কৈশোরে পৌঁছায়নি, অথচ দেহ ব্যবসার নরপিশাচদের হাতে তার শৈশব নির্মমভাবে হারিয়ে গেছে।

Translation: The girl has not yet reached adolescence, but her childhood has been cruelly lost at the hands of these monsters in the prostitution business.

He explained that the girl ran away from home because she was afraid of a strict punishment from her parents after failing an exam. An acquaintance then tricked her into going to India, where she was forced into prostitution. Mathai called for the arrest of all 200 men who abused her.

Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik assured that the police are working hard to dismantle the entire trafficking network and create a safe environment for vulnerable teenagers.

Mathai believes this girl’s story is not an isolated incident. He said,

Translation: Behind every such rescue operation is a child whose voice went unheard, who first failed their parents and then failed the society that reacted too late.

He pointed out that sometimes parents, in their desire for their child’s success, become so strict that they build a wall from which the child cannot escape.
