Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin has announced that the 13th National Election of Bangladesh is expected to be held in the first half of February next year. Speaking after a meeting with election officials in Rangpur, he assured that the Election Commission (EC) will take strict measures to prevent unrest, ensure strong law enforcement, and maintain a fair and acceptable voting process.
Election Date Announcement
Speaking to reporters on Saturday (9 August) at the Rangpur Regional Election Office, CEC Nasir Uddin said:
“ইলেকশন পরবর্তী ফেব্রুয়ারির প্রথমার্ধে হবে, ইনশাআল্লাহ।”
“The election will be held in the first half of February, Inshallah.”

Assuring Law and Order During Voting
The CEC assured that chaos during voting will not be tolerated:
“ভোটে বিশৃঙ্খলা করতে দেওয়া হবে না। এমন সুযোগ থাকবে না। ভোট বন্ধ করার আগে তদন্ত করা হবে। এবার আমাদের আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী অনেক শক্তিশালী ভূমিকা রাখবে। সুন্দর গ্রহণযোগ্য ভোটের জন্য যা যা করার দরকার তাই করবো।”
“There will be no opportunity for creating chaos during voting. Any voting suspension will only happen after proper investigation. This time, our law enforcement will play a much stronger role. We will do everything necessary to ensure a fair and acceptable election.”
Removing Old Faces from Election Process
Earlier, at a meeting with election officials of Rangpur Division, the CEC highlighted plans to bring in new people:
“বিগত নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়ায় জড়িতদের বাদ দিয়ে নতুন লোক নেওয়া হবে। ভোটে আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতির যে কোনো চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় প্রস্তুত ইসি।”
“Those involved in the previous election process will be replaced with new people. The Election Commission is prepared to handle any law-and-order challenges during the election.”
Confidence in Improved Security
The CEC expressed optimism about law and order as the National Election approaches:
“নির্বাচন ঘনিয়ে আসার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতির আরও উন্নতি হবে। এছাড়া বিগত সময়ে যারা নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়ার সঙ্গে জড়িত ছিলেন, তাদের যথা সম্ভব বাদ দিয়ে নতুন লোক নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়ায় যোগ করা হবে। জাতির কাছে দেওয়া প্রধান উপদেষ্টার সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনের প্রতিশ্রুতি রক্ষা করতেই কাজ করছে ইসি।”
“As the election draws nearer, the law-and-order situation will improve further. As much as possible, we will exclude those who were involved in past election processes and bring in new people. The Election Commission is working to uphold the Chief Advisor’s promise to the nation for a fair election.”
