Planned Murder Revealed During Interrogation
New information has surfaced about the shocking murder of Jagannath University (JnU) student and Chhatra Dal leader Zubayed Hossain.
During a face-to-face interrogation, Mahir Rahman and Barjis Shabnam Barsha confessed that they planned the murder on September 25.
Banshal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rafiqul Islam confirmed this information on Tuesday (October 21) morning.

Murder Plan Was Made by Barsha and Mahir
According to police, Barsha told her ex-boyfriend Mahir around mid-September that she no longer liked JnU Student Zubayed. After that, the two decided to remove him from their lives. Barsha told Mahir,
“জুবায়েদকে আর ভালো লাগে না”
Translation: “I don’t like Zubayed anymore”
Following this, both of them bought two switch gears and planned to attack JnU Student Zubayed from two sides. As per the plan, on the evening before last Sunday, Mahir killed Zubayed on the stairs of Barsha’s house before he went to give tuition.
“সাধারণডিমবিক্রিকরেআমরাকীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষকাস্টমারএনেছি—এইবইয়েআছেতারবাস্তবকাহিনি!”
Mahir’s friend Fardin Ahmed Aylan was also present during the attack. Barsha helped by providing Zubayed’s location and other details.
How the Murder Happened
On Sunday afternoon around 4:30 PM, Zubayed went to Roushan Villa, 5th floor, on Nurbox Road, Armanitola, to tutor Barsha, a second-year student of Dhaka Mohanagar Women’s College.

As soon as he entered the building, he was attacked on the staircase. Mahir struck him on the right side of his neck with a switch gear, causing severe bleeding.
JnU Student Zubayed died on the spot due to excessive blood loss.
Police Investigation and Arrests
That night, police arrested Barsha from her home.
The next day, they arrested Mahir Rahman and Fardin Ahmed Aylan.
OC Rafiqul Islam confirmed that the three accused have already confessed to their involvement in the murder during the initial investigation.
