Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Tazul Islam, has made a strong statement on Facebook about the recent leaked audio call involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In the post, he hinted that more serious information is yet to come about crimes committed during the July Uprising.
Audio Not Found by BBC
According to Tazul, it was not the BBC who discovered the leaked audio call. He claimed that the International Crimes Tribunal’s special investigation officer was the one who found it.
In his Facebook post on Wednesday (9 July), Tazul Islam wrote:
“মন্তব্য নিষ্প্রয়োজন। নিজের চোখেই দেখে নিন। তবে এই কল রেকর্ডটি বিবিসি উদ্ধার করেনি- করেছে আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনালের বিশেষ তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা। এটা ট্রেলার মাত্র। অনেক কিছু এখনো বাকি। অপেক্ষায় থাকুন।”
“No comments are necessary. See it with your own eyes. But this call recording wasn’t found by the BBC—it was recovered by the special investigator of the International Crimes Tribunal. This is just a trailer. A lot more is yet to come. Stay tuned.”

BBC’s Role
Earlier, BBC verified the audio of Sheikh Hasina, where she is allegedly heard ordering the shooting of students during the protests. The recording was reportedly made by Bangladesh’s National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC).
Audio Verified by Experts
The BBC sent the audio to Earshot, a professional forensic audio firm. Earshot confirmed that:
-
The audio was not edited or tampered with
-
There’s almost no chance it was artificially generated
-
The Electric Network Frequency (ENF) in the recording proves it’s authentic and unaltered.
This new claim from Tazul Islam brings further focus on the Tribunal’s investigation into human rights abuses linked to the July Uprising. And if Tazul’s words are any hint, “many more revelations may be coming soon.”
