BCB Announces Salary Increase: A Major Boost for Women’s Cricket Team

In a groundbreaking move for women’s cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a significant salary increase under its central contract for the 2024-25 season. Grade A players will now earn BDT 1,20,000 per month (a rise of BDT 20,000), while Grade B players will receive BDT 1,00,000 (a rise of BDT 20,000). Grade C and Grade D players will earn BDT 70,000 and BDT 60,000 per month, respectively, both reflecting a BDT 10,000 increase. This pay rise acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the national team.

The central contract has been expanded to include 18 players, with several receiving promotions to higher salary grades. To further motivate the players, the BCB has also introduced a match and series-winning bonus system, offering bonuses between BDT 30,000 and BDT 1,00,000 depending on the opponent’s ranking and the match format.

Additionally, the BCB has launched the Women’s National Contract, extending financial support to 30 additional players outside the central contract. This initiative aims to provide financial stability and inspire the next generation of players to perform at their best.

This announcement is a step forward for women’s cricket in Bangladesh, where players have worked tirelessly despite limited financial recognition. By increasing salaries and introducing new benefits, the BCB is ensuring that these athletes receive the support they deserve to excel on and off the field.
