“Before It’s Too Late”: Dr. Yunus Calls for Global Action to Save the World

Dr. Yunus

Call for Global Responsibility

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, said that every nation must play a role in changing the world. He stressed that global participation is essential and that we must choose the right path before it’s too late.

Speech at Social Business Day Event

Dr. Yunus made these remarks on Friday morning (27 June) at the opening ceremony of the 15th Social Business Day, held at a social convention centre in Zirabo, Savar. The event will continue over two days.

Overcoming Past Obstacles

Calling Social Business Day a kind of family reunion, Dr. Yunus noted that the previous government had objected to celebrating this day. However, for the first time since August 5, Bangladesh is now able to host the event again.

Social Business for Health and Equality

He emphasized that social business is the only effective way to ensure access to healthcare. Donations alone, he said, are not enough. The theme of this year’s event is:

“The most effective way to ensure healthcare for all is through social business.”

He added that this event aims to promote a just, sustainable, and humane global system by reducing inequality and limitations in healthcare and other sectors.

Education Must Begin with Dreams

Dr. Yunus also shared his thoughts on education. He believes that any education system should begin by teaching students to dream. Dreaming is the foundation for real progress, and this should be the first lesson in any system.

He added that Grameen University will help build a new kind of civilization.

A Vision for a Better World

“If we don’t dream, we can’t make it real,” he said. “We don’t want a world full of sorrow—we want a beautiful world. We want a new civilization, and we believe we can achieve it.”

Global Participation in the Event

This year’s event includes five full sessions and eight breakout sessions. Over 1,000 participants, including more than 180 foreign guests from over 25 countries, are attending the two-day gathering.
