Bernie Sanders Announces New Bill

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, from the Democratic Party, said on Saturday that he is going to introduce a new bill.
This bill will say that the U.S. government cannot take military action against Iran without clear approval from Congress.
It will also ban the use of federal funds for such actions.

Statement on Social Media

In a post on the social media platform X, Sanders wrote:

“We cannot allow the U.S. to be dragged into Netanyahu’s illegal war against Iran.”

Federal Funds Will Be Blocked

Sanders said his bill will block the use of federal funds for any military attack on Iran unless Congress approves it.
However, he mentioned that an exception will be made if it is for self-defence.

Sanders: Strong Critic of Israel’s Military Actions

Senator Sanders has often criticized Israel’s military policy in Gaza.
Last Friday, he condemned Prime Minister Netanyahu’s airstrikes on Iran, warning that such actions could lead to a full-scale war in the region.

Tensions Are Growing in Washington

Sanders’ announcement comes at a time when tensions are rising in Washington over the ongoing Israel-Iran-U.S. conflict.

Israeli Airstrikes on Iran

Early Friday morning, Israel launched major airstrikes on Tehran and seven other Iranian cities.
The targets were nuclear sites, military facilities, and missile factories.
Several top Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists were reportedly killed.

Iran’s Response: Drone and Missile Attacks

That same night, Iran responded with a counterattack.
First, they launched about 100 drones, followed by missile strikes.

Iran claims that the Israeli attacks have so far killed at least 80 people, including 20 children, and injured over 320 others.
The attacks continued into Saturday.
