BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Placed on Ventilation Support

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been placed on ventilation support at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka as her condition became critical due to serious infections in her lungs and heart.

Her former press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel shared this update on social media on Monday afternoon and asked everyone to pray for her recovery.

BNP Leaders Express Concern

Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke about her health at a programme in Gulshan, where Dr Reza Kibria joined BNP. He said,

“আপনারা জানেন, ম্যাডাম অসুস্থ এবং চিকিৎসকরা আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করছেন। দেশি-বিদেশি সমস্ত চিকিৎসক যুক্ত রয়েছেন। আল্লাহর কাছে দোয়া করছি যেন তিনি সুস্থ হয়ে আমাদের মাঝে আসেন।”

Translation: “You know that Madam is ill, and the doctors are trying their best. Local and foreign doctors are involved. We pray to Allah so that she recovers and returns to us.”

Admitted Since Sunday

Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Sunday. After medical tests, doctors confirmed a lung infection and declared her situation highly critical. Since Thursday, she has been receiving treatment in the Critical Care Unit (CCU).

Medical Board Monitoring Her Treatment

A special medical board led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder is supervising her treatment. The board includes doctors from Bangladesh, Johns Hopkins University (USA), and the London Clinic (UK).

Her daughter-in-law Dr Zubaida Rahman is also part of the board. From London, her elder son Tarique Rahman is maintaining constant communication with the team of doctors.
