Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the BNP government has started implementing all its promises even before the election ink is wiped off its nails. He said,
এর আগে চালু করা হয়েছে ফ্যামিলি কার্ড, পহেলা বৈশাখ থেকে চালু হবে কৃষক কার্ড। আগামী ১৬ মার্চ দিনাজপুরে শুরু হবে খাল খনন কর্মসূচি।
Translation: Earlier, the family card was introduced, and the farmer card will be introduced from Pahela Baishakh. The canal digging program will begin in Dinajpur on March 16.
He made the remarks after inaugurating the program to provide monthly honorarium to imams, muezzins and priests at the Osmani Auditorium in the capital on Saturday (March 14) morning.
The Prime Minister said,
দেশের প্রতিটি নাগরিকের রাজনৈতিক এবং অর্থনৈতিক ক্ষমতায়ন নিশ্চিত করার মাধ্যমে আমরা আমাদের দেশকে একটি শক্তিশালী ভিত্তির উপরে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে চাই। আর কোনো ফ্যাসিবাদ কিংবা তাদের তাবেদার অপশক্তি মানুষের স্বাধীনতা কেড়ে নিতে না পারে, কথা বলার অধিকার কেড়ে নিতে না পারে।
Translation: By ensuring the political and economic empowerment of every citizen of the country, we want to establish our country on a strong foundation. No more fascism or the evil forces that follow them can take away people’s freedom, their right to speak.

He added that,
একজন রাজনৈতিক কর্মী হিসেবে দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করি যে, দেশের নাগরিকদেরকে যদি দুর্বল করে রাখা হয়, তাহলে রাষ্ট্র কখনোই শক্তিশালী হতে পারে না। সেইজন্যই আমাদের ইচ্ছা, দর্শন, পরিকল্পনা—বাংলাদেশের নাগরিকদেরকে রাজনৈতিক এবং অর্থনৈতিকভাবে ধীরে ধীরে শক্তিশালীভাবে গড়ে তুলতে চাই, যদি আমরা রাষ্ট্রকে শক্তিশালী করতে চাই।
Translation: As a political activist, I firmly believe that if the citizens of the country are kept weak, the state can never be strong. That is why our desire, philosophy, plan is to gradually develop the citizens of Bangladesh politically and economically, if we want to strengthen the state.
Addressing the religious leaders, the Prime Minister said,
দুনিয়ার কল্যাণের পাশাপাশি আখেরাতের কল্যাণের জন্য প্রার্থনার কথা পবিত্র কোরআনে কারীমে উল্লেখ রয়েছে। ইহকালীন, পরকালীন কল্যাণ বিষয়ক নির্দেশনা নিঃসন্দেহে অন্য ধর্মাবলম্বীদের ধর্মীয় বিধিবিধান অনুযায়ীও নির্দেশিত রয়েছে। সুতরাং, ধর্মীয় বিধিবিধানের আলোকেই আপনারা আপনাদের শিক্ষা, দীক্ষা ও যোগ্যতা এবং অভিজ্ঞতাকে কীভাবে আরো বেশি করে দেশ এবং জনগণের কল্যাণে প্রয়োগ করতে পারেন, সেই চিন্তা এবং চেষ্টাও অব্যাহত রাখা অত্যন্ত জরুরি এই দেশের জন্য।
Translation: The Holy Quran mentions praying for the welfare of the world as well as the welfare of the hereafter. The instructions regarding the welfare of this world and the hereafter are undoubtedly given according to the religious rules of other religions. Therefore, it is very important for this country to continue thinking and trying how you can apply your education, initiation, qualifications and experience more for the welfare of the country and its people in the light of religious rules.
He further said that,
অর্থনৈতিকভাবে সমৃদ্ধ রাষ্ট্র মানুষের জীবনে হয়তো আর্থিক স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য নিশ্চিত করে, কিন্তু ধৈর্য, সততা, কৃতজ্ঞতাবোধ, শ্রদ্ধা, আনুগত্য, সম্প্রীতি, সহনশীলতা, উদারতা, বন্ধুত্ব, বিনয়, দায় কিংবা দয়া—এই সমস্ত বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলো অর্জন ছাড়া একজন ব্যক্তি মানবিক গুণাবলি সম্পন্ন হয়ে উঠতে পারে না।
Translation: An economically prosperous state may ensure financial comfort in the lives of people, but without acquiring patience, honesty, gratitude, respect, loyalty, harmony, tolerance, generosity, friendship, humility, responsibility or kindness – a person cannot become a complete human being.
Meanwhile, the heads of various religious places of worship have thanked the government for taking the initiative to implement its election promises within a month of coming to power. However, due to religious restrictions, Catholic priests of the Christian community have refused to accept government allowances.
