Brutal Attack on Local BNP Leader
A shocking incident took place in Kalinagar village of Bancharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria, where local BNP leader and fisherman Zakir Hossain was brutally assaulted by followers of Awami League leader Jasim Master. The attackers allegedly beat him severely, tied his hands, legs, and mouth, and left him inside a graveyard. The incident occurred on Tuesday night.
Conflict Over River Fishing Spot
According to Zakir’s family and a written complaint filed at the Bancharampur Model Police Station, the attack happened when Zakir went to catch fish in the river. Local sources said that a dispute over the control of illegal fish enclosures in the river had been ongoing between Zakir and Jasim Master.
For years, Jasim and his group reportedly occupied fishing spots, depriving ordinary fishermen of access.
Zakir Rescued and Hospitalized
Locals said they heard Zakir screaming late at night and found him tied up inside the Kalinagar graveyard. He was rescued and taken to Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Dhaka for better treatment.
Witnesses reported severe injuries and bruises on different parts of his body.

Case Filed Against Seven People
The next day, Zakir’s daughter-in-law, Arjina Akter, filed a case naming Jasim Master, a teacher at Shah Rahat Ali High School, as the main accused along with six others. Attempts to contact Jasim for a response were unsuccessful.
Police and BNP Response
Bancharampur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) said they have received a written complaint and an investigation is underway.

Bancharampur BNP’s General Secretary VP AKM Musha condemned the attack, saying:
“জাকির হোসেনকে অসহায় পেয়ে সক্রিয় আওয়ামী লীগের নেতা জসীম মাস্টার বিভিন্ন সময় হামলা করেছে। তার বিরুদ্ধে প্রশাসনের অবিলম্বে ব্যবস্থা নেয়ার জন্য আহ্বান জানাই।”
Translation: “Jasim Master, an active Awami League leader, has attacked Zakir Hossain several times. I urge the authorities to take immediate action against him.”
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
Video Goes Viral, Tension Rises
A video showing Zakir tied up in the graveyard has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and unrest in the area. Locals say tension remains high following the violent incident.
