Incident at the Madrasah
In Barguna’s Amtali upazila, a group of BNP leaders and activists became angry after they were not invited to a program at N.M.M. Amjadia Alim Madrasah in Gulishakhali Union. According to reports, they entered the madrasah and ate food prepared for 50 invited guests. After that, they allegedly spoiled the leftover food, causing shock and anger among locals.
Principal’s Statement
Madrasah Principal Maulana Ali Hossain complained that the incident happened on Thursday afternoon during a management committee meeting. Food was cooked for about 50 guests, but BNP leaders were not invited.

He said BNP’s 9th ward unit president Mahbub Kazi and general secretary Ripon Kazi led 30–35 activists into the madrasah. They misbehaved, ate the food meant for guests, and ruined the rest.
Reaction on Social Media
After the incident, BNP leader Ripon Kazi posted pictures of the day on his Facebook account. This created a storm of criticism on social media, with many people condemning the act. Local residents also demanded legal and organizational action against those responsible.
BNP Leader’s Admission
Accused BNP leader Mahbub Kazi admitted that they ate the food but denied spoiling it. He said,
“আমাদের দাওয়াত না দিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগ নেতাদের নিয়ে অনুষ্ঠান করায় আমরা খাবার খেয়েছি। তবে খাবার নষ্ট করিনি।”
Translation:
“As we were not invited and the program was arranged with Awami League leaders, we ate the food. But we did not spoil it.”
BNP Upazila Leadership Response
Amtali upazila BNP joint convener Mahbubul Alam Mridha condemned the incident and said action would be taken.
“এটি গর্হিত কাজ। জড়িতদের বিরুদ্ধে সাংগঠনিক ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হবে।”
Translation:
“This is a disgraceful act. Organizational action will be taken against those involved.”
Other upazila BNP leaders also assured that the matter would be investigated, and proper steps would follow.
Police Statement
Amtali police station OC Dewan Jaghlu lHasan said they had not yet received any complaint.
