BTRC Limits SIM Cards to 10 Per Person—De-Register Extra SIMs by October 30

BTRC Limits SIM Cards

If you have more than 10 mobile SIM cards registered under your name, you must cancel the extra ones by October 30, 2025—this is the new directive from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

The announcement was made through a post on BTRC’s official Facebook page on Wednesday, July 30.

According to the notice, each individual is allowed to keep a maximum of 10 SIM cards in their name. If anyone has more than that, they are required to visit the customer care centres of the respective mobile operators and de-register the extra SIMs within the deadline.

BTRC has clearly stated that after October 30, necessary legal actions will be taken against any additional SIMs that remain active. This decision aims to stop misuse of mobile connections and to reduce the use of illegally registered SIMs.

How to Check How Many SIMs Are Registered in Your Name

To check how many SIMs are registered under your NID, simply dial *16001# from your mobile phone. This service is available for everyone and is fully supervised by BTRC.

BTRC says this initiative is part of their plan to make the country’s mobile network system safe, accountable, and well-regulated. The commission urges all mobile users to take this matter seriously and complete the de-registration process within the given timeframe.
