The Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam ordered that Shreeshant be sent to jail.
SI Ashraful Islam, representing the prosecution, confirmed the details and added that Shreeshant Roy’s bail plea was rejected.
Background of the Case
The case was filed after a group of BUET students staged a protest on October 21, demanding punishment for Shreeshant Roy over allegations of sexual harassment, hurting religious sentiments, and cyberbullying of a fellow student.
That night, he was taken into police custody by the Chawkbazar Police Station.
The following day, BUET Security Officer Afghan Hossain filed a formal case against him. He was shown arrested and later sent to jail.

Later, on October 31, police sought a three-day remand, which was approved by the court on November 5.
Details of the Alleged Offense
According to the case documents, Shreeshant, using the pseudonymous ID “Weekly Service 923”, allegedly posted a series of writings from June 8 to September 7 at BUET’s Ahsanullah Hall.
The posts reportedly contained obscene, offensive, and religiously provocative comments targeting Muslim women and Islam.
The complainant stated that after an extensive investigation, the person behind the pseudonymous account was confirmed to be Shreeshant Roy.
As of now, Shreeshant remains in jail following the court order. The case is under further investigation to verify the extent and nature of his online activities.
