Islami Andolon Condemns the Incident
Islami Andolon Bangladesh has strongly condemned the incident of breaking a mazar (shrine) and Burning Bodies from Graves in Rajbari’s Goalanda. The party’s Joint Secretary General, Gazi Ataur Rahman, said this act has no relation with Islam or Islamic politics.
He described it as ignorant barbarism and demanded strict punishment for the real planners and culprits behind the attack.
Criticism of Local Administration
Gazi Ataur Rahman expressed doubt about the role of the local administration in this incident. He said people had informed the administration several times about the tension around the shrine, but no effective steps were taken.
“এ ঘটনায় স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের ভূমিকা রহস্যজনক… তাদের উদাসীনতা ও দায়িত্বহীনতার কারণেই এমন ঘটনা ঘটেছে।”
Translation: “The role of the local administration in this incident is suspicious… this happened because of their negligence and irresponsibility.”
He demanded an investigation into the actions of the local administration.

Islam is a Religion of Love and Coexistence
The Islami Andolon spokesperson explained that Islam has always spread in this region through peace, love, knowledge, and social development—not through violence.
“ইসলাম দাওয়াহ-নির্ভর একটি ধর্ম… ফলে এই ধরনের আচরণ কোনোভাবেই সমর্থন করা যায় না।”
Translation: “Islam is a dawah-based religion… therefore, such behaviour can never be supported.”
Respect for Human Dignity in Islam
Referring to Prophet Muhammad’s (SWA) teachings, Gazi Ataur Rahman reminded that Islam even respected the bodies of non-believers.
“রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) কাফেরের লাশের প্রতিও সম্মান দেখিয়েছেন…
Translation: “Prophet Muhammad (SWA) showed respect even to the body of a non-believer…”
He stressed that the actions of a few reckless groups do not represent the nature of Islamic practice in Bangladesh.
