Cargo Ship Delivers 699 Containers to Chittagong From Karachi, Pakistan

The Panama-flagged vessel, Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan, has arrived in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Port for the second time, marking a milestone in its direct journey from Karachi, Pakistan. The ship, which docked in Chittagong Port waters on Friday, is scheduled to berth at the port’s jetty on Sunday.

Unlike its first trip, where it traveled through Dubai, this time, the Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan has made a direct voyage from Karachi, Pakistan, to Bangladesh, carrying a diverse cargo of goods. The vessel, which departed from Dubai and Karachi, is transporting materials such as sugar, potatoes, soda ash, denim fabric, yarn, dolomite lumps, dry fish, UPS, and radiator cores.

The second voyage of the Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan has seen a significant increase in cargo, with over twice the number of containers compared to its initial trip. The ship is carrying a total of 825 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) containers—126 TEUs were shipped from Dubai, and 699 TEUs were loaded in Karachi.

The unloading process at Chittagong Port is expected to take two days. The ship’s first visit to the port occurred on November 11, 2023, after it arrived from Dubai and Karachi.

The Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan is operated by Feeder Lines DMCC, a Dubai-based company that has launched this route connecting Dubai, Karachi, Chittagong, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and back to Dubai. Regency Lines Limited serves as the local agent for the ship in Bangladesh.
