A soldier from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has been caught by local people in Narayanpur, Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh. He was handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The commander of the 53 BGB battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Mahmud Rinku, confirmed this news on Wednesday morning (June 4, 2025).

The name of the BSF soldier who was caught is Sri Ganesh. He is a member of the Nurpur 71 BSF camp in India.

How the Incident Happened

According to the BGB, someone was grazing goats and cows on Wednesday morning close to the Satrashia area, which is close to border pillar number 19 and sub-pillar number 5. The BSF soldier, Sri Ganesh, was chasing after this person and crossed the border into Bangladesh. At this time, local villagers caught him and then handed him over to the BGB.

The BGB has stated that the process of handing over the caught BSF soldier to India is currently underway. The BGB has not yet released an official statement about this incident.
