Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the southern region, said that after the mass uprising, the head of state went to London, sat down with the chairman of a party and held a press conference, which is unprecedented in history. He claimed that the government was sold that day. Regarding the elections, he said that they have no objection to the timeline, but the elections must be held as Constituent Assembly elections. He called the old constitution a textbook of fascism and demanded a new constitution and made it clear that they cannot be bought with seats, because they did not come for sale.
Hasnat Abdullah made remarks at a discussion meeting titled ‘Congress Council Elections’ organized to implement the July Charter at Bangla Motor in the capital on Saturday (August 16). In this meeting he said,
যাকে গণঅভ্যুত্থানের পরে রাষ্ট্রপ্রধান বানানো হয়েছে উনি লন্ডনে গিয়ে সিজদা দিয়ে এসেছেন। পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসে এমন কোনও ঘটনা আছে কি না অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারপ্রধান একটি দলের ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যানের সাথে বসে প্রেস কনফারেন্স করছেন। সেদিনই তিনি লন্ডনে সরকারকে বেচে দিয়ে এসেছেন বলেও মন্তব্য করেন তিনি।
Translation: The one who was made the head of state after the mass uprising went to London and prostrated himself. Is there any such incident in the history of the world where the interim head of government is sitting with the acting chairman of a party and holding a press conference? He also commented that he sold the government in London that day.

Regarding the elections, Hasnat said,
আমাদেরকে বলা হয় আমরা নির্বাচন পেছাতে চাই। আরে নির্বাচনের টাইমলাইন নিয়ে আমাদের কোনও সমস্যা নেই। নির্বাচন নভেম্বর, ডিসেম্বর বা জানুয়ারিতে হোক আমাদের কোনও সমস্যা নেই কিন্তু রুলস অব গেম চেঞ্জ করে নির্বাচন হতে হবে। নির্বাচন যখনই হোক অবশ্যই সেটা গণপরিষদ নির্বাচন হতে হবে।
Translation: “We are told that we want to postpone the elections. Hey, we have no problem with the election timeline. Whether the elections are in November, December or January, we have no problem, but the elections must be held by changing the rules of the game. Whenever the elections are held, it must be a Constituent Assembly election.”
Referring to the old constitution as a textbook of fascism, Hasnat said,
আমাদেরকে অবশ্যই একটা নতুন সংবিধান দিতে হবে। আর যারা মনে করছে নতুন রাজনৈতিক দলকে উঠতে দিবে না তাদের বলতে চাই আসন দিয়ে আমাদের কেউ কিনতে পারবে না। আমরা বিক্রি হতে আসিনি।
Translation: “We must be given a new constitution. And to those who think that they will not allow new political parties to emerge, I want to tell them that no one can buy us with seats. We have not come to be sold.
