On August 5, 2025, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will read the historic July Declaration at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. The day is packed with cultural programs, speeches, and public gatherings to commemorate the July Uprising Day. Due to the event, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic guidelines for the public.
Historic Declaration Reading at South Plaza
Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will read the historic “July Declaration” today, Tuesday, August 5, at 5 PM from the South Plaza of the National Parliament. According to a press release from his press wing issued on Monday, this declaration is part of the national observance of the “July Uprising Day”.
Background of the July Declaration
The July Declaration is a political document based on the 2024 July Uprising. It has been finalized by the interim government in consultation with major political parties, including the BNP. The draft includes 26 points. The first 21 cover historical events such as the Liberation War and democratic movements in Bangladesh, leading up to the July Uprising.

Cultural Programs at Manik Mia Avenue
A day-long cultural event is being organized at Manik Mia Avenue starting from 11 AM. According to the schedule:
- 11:00 AM: Songs by Tong
- 11:20 AM: Performance by Saimum Shilpigoshthi
- 11:40 AM: Performance by Kolorob Shilpigoshthi
- 12:05 PM: Song by Nahid
- 12:30 PM: Performance by Tashfi
- 1:10 PM: Chittagong Hip-Hop Hood
- 1:30 PM: Sejan
- 2:00 PM: Performance by Shunno
- 2:25 PM: “Celebration of the Fascist’s Fall”
- 2:40 PM: Performance by Sayan
- 3:00 PM: Ithun Babu & Moushumi
- 3:30 PM: Band Souls
- 4:00 PM: Band Warfaze
At 5 PM, the July Declaration will be read. Following that:
- 5:30 PM: Basic Guitar Learning School
- 5:50 PM: Band F Minor
- 6:15 PM: Parsha
- 7:00 PM: Elita Karim
- 8:00 PM: Final act by band Artcell
A special drone drama titled “Do You Miss Me, Written by The Anonymous” will also be featured.
Organizers include the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, with support from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the National Parliament Secretariat.

Mustafa Sarwar Farooqi told Prothom Alo:
“শহিদ পরিবারের প্রতিনিধি, জুলাই অভ্যুত্থানের সব শক্তি, বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক, সামাজিক সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধি এবং নাগরিক সমাজের উপস্থিতিতে প্রধান উপদেষ্টা সংসদ ভবনের দক্ষিণ প্লাজায় জুলাই ঘোষণাপত্র পাঠ করবেন। তারপর আবার মানিক মিয়া অ্যাভিনিউতে স্টেজে (মঞ্চ) আয়োজন শুরু হবে। যেটা শেষ হবে একটা নিউ মিডিয়া আয়োজন, ড্রোন ড্রামা দিয়ে।”
Translation: “In the presence of representatives of martyr families, July uprising forces, political and social groups, and civil society, the Chief Advisor will read the declaration. Then events will resume on the stage at Manik Mia Avenue, ending with a new media presentation — a drone drama.”
DMP Issues Traffic Diversion and Guidelines
To manage the crowd and ensure safety, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a set of traffic instructions. According to a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, vehicle movement around Manik Mia Avenue and the Parliament area will be restricted.
Diversion Points and Alternative Routes
Aarong Crossing (West End of Manik Mia Avenue):
- Vehicles from the north (Mirpur Road) or Mohammadpur heading towards Khajur Bagan/Farmgate must go straight south via Dhanmondi-27 instead of turning.
- From the south (Science Lab), vehicles should avoid right turn and instead proceed north, turn right at Ganabhaban Crossing, and follow Lake Road, Urojahaj Crossing, and Bijoy Sarani.
Khajur Bagan Crossing (East End):
- Vehicles from the Elevated Expressway via Indira Road should avoid Manik Mia Avenue and instead turn right towards Urojahaj Crossing, then left to Lake Road, and finally reach Dhanmondi via Mirpur Road.
- Use FDC (Hatirjheel) ramp instead of Farmgate ramp to avoid congestion.
Farmgate Crossing:
- Vehicles heading to Mirpur from Farmgate should go via Bijoy Sarani and Urojahaj Crossing.
Ganabhaban Crossing:
- Northbound vehicles from Mirpur Road should turn left at Ganabhaban, then go via Lake Road, Urojahaj, and Bijoy Sarani to reach Farmgate.
Asadgate Route:
- Vehicles from Mohammadpur via Asadgate should follow the Ganabhaban-Lake Road-Urojahaj route.
Syed Mahbub Morshed Road (Agargaon to Shishu Mela):
- Advised route for vehicles usually using Manik Mia Avenue.
Parking Instructions
Visitors with personal or hired vehicles are requested to park at the old Trade Fair Ground in Agargaon.
DMP requests everyone to follow the guidelines and cooperate to avoid traffic congestion and ensure the event’s success.
